Welcome
We are a seven class village school with a very friendly and caring ethos. The school is set in beautiful surroundings in the village of East Coker which is just on the edge of Yeovil. We have fantastic facilities both in and around school and there is always lots going on for our pupils. This website aims to give you an overview of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.
East Coker Community Primary School is a middle sized school for pupils aged between 4 - 11 years. Our core catchment is the village of East Coker together with the surrounding villages of East Chinnock, Pendomer and Hardington as well as an area of Yeovil. A growing proportion of our pupils come to us from outside this catchment area from other villages and other parts of Yeovil. Our annual admission number is 30 pupils and we currently have over 205 pupils on roll. We have a very good staff to pupil ratio.
We now run our own Breakfast Club and After School Club (7.30am - 6pm) on site in safe, secure, well lit grounds, led by our experienced and very creative teaching assistants. You can find out more information about this in our Parents section.
We also offer many after school clubs such as art, sports, choir and photography and provide opportunities for our children to take part in external events such as clay workshops with professional artists and sports events. In addition to this we have educational visits and residentials. These include visits to the theatre, farm, seaside, museums and engineering events.
We have a very active PTFA who raise funds so our children can have many additional experiences such as free music lessons for Year 3 pupils, two external theatre productions and workshops as well as subsidising our many school visits. We have exciting events throughout the year from bingo to discos, to our extremely successful summer fair.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have. This includes requests for paper copies of any information we have on the website.
