Who are we?
The PTFA stands for Parent Teacher and Friends Association, so really anyone who would like to help raise funds for the school, in order to improve the school life of all pupils in a broad variety of ways, can be, and is a member of the PTFA.
We are a registered charity: 1081060
Current committee:
Chair: Lily Doble
Vice-Chair: Libby Denman
Secretary: Beki Sharman
Treasurer: Sarah Brooks
The PTFA is not only comprised of the committee, there are lots of wonderful people who regularly help out, and a role on the committee isn't required to be a part of the PTFA. We always need help with running our fundraising events, and we love new ideas from new people, so if you can give a little bit of time then please let us know, you will be very welcome!
What do we do?
We raise money throughout the year, in a variety of ways, but most noticeably by organising all the school social events. The money we raise is then ALL put back into the school to provide opportunities, experiences, equipment, and extras that benefit ALL the children in the school and that the school budget is not able to cover.
PTFA funding includes regular annual donations to each class, which allows the teachers freedom to provide something they feel the children in their class would benefit from most. This has included a variety of things from a special new rug which encourages polite sitting during circle time in Infants, to a LEGO building experience with a LEGO professional in Juniors.
Funding also covers a broad range of other items, such as: PE & ICT equipment, music lessons, theatre group visits, subsidised travel to residentials and school trips, Book Bags for new Reception pupils, and Book Tokens for Year 6 Leavers. We also provide ice lollies at the sports days and the Christmas Crackers and Christmas Tree at Christmas!
We like to make fundraising as fun as possible for all involved, and we love to run fun events for the children, and family and friends. Our events include School Discos (Silly and Spooky!), Quiz Nights, Bingo Nights, Easter Walks, Christmas Raffle, Christmas Fair, Parents' Christmas Present Room, Colouring Competition, and our massive Summer Fair with its amazing Summer Raffle.
We also raise money with our Second Hand Uniform Shop, run by Lily Doble, through our Christmas Card Project, where children can design their own Christmas cards for printing and purchase, and with our fabulous Calendars, which feature the children's self-portraits (plus all the important PTFA social events!) made each year by Libby Denman.
We are also registered with Easyfundraising, so you could earn donations for the school for free everytime you shop online! For more information, click here. (Link is www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/eastcokerschool).
