During Lockdown 2021
Feedback from the parent questionnaire March 2021 showed that remote learning provision, additional support for SEND, pastoral support and communication was very good.
The school offered a very comprehensive remote learning provision from January 2021. This included:
- A very clear daily timetable for families and the offer covered the expected hours for each key stage.
- All class teachers provided daily video or live lessons and offered additional live lessons in KS2 for those pupils who struggled with the mornings work.
- Teaching Assistants led group MS Teams meetings for learning and emotional support.
- There were recorded assemblies and weekly podcasts provided by senior leaders.
- Staff led live story time teams sessions and show and tell sessions, which children could choose to attend.
- Weekly well-being sessions were led by the ELSA and the Sports Coach and this focused on physical and mental health activities.
- Fridays became our ‘Feel Good Friday’ and included activities such as singing ‘assemblies’ and whole school art and music lessons planned by the head teacher.
- Special weeks and days were also held, including dress up days with MS Teams being used to share experiences. This helped reduce the feeling of isolation from school and supported mental health and wellbeing.
- Laptops were leased to families in need and the school used DfE laptop provision. This increased family engagement.
In addition to this there was a large number of bespoke and additional support put in place including:
- Home visits took place for our vulnerable pupils to follow up concerns and deliver additional learning materials, increasing the engagement from families.
- ELSA virtual sessions continued with an increase in pupils being targeted following parent concerns.
- Teaching assistants and teachers took online small group sessions for children either at SEN support/EHCP, or those who have very low ability. These took place several times a week and aided families who found their child’s engagement challenging.
- One to one virtual tuition sessions took place for SEN support pupils from teaching staff.
