We give equal value to our foundation subjects as we do to maths and English. We provide many additional opportunities for our children to excel in other curriculum areas. Some of our little extras on top of our 'normal curriculum' include:
There is not enough space to write about the sporting opportunities we have provided our children. From lunchtime and after school clubs led by our sports coach and staff to in house and external competitions.
We have represented Yeovil Football Team at regional events following the huge success of our football teams and they often come in to support our children with football PE sessions. In addition to this we have taken part in alternative events at Millfield private school, swimming galas, won many cross country events and have a cabinet full to the brim with trophies and awards we have won at competitive level. A number of our children have achieved at national level in sports such as gymnastics, football and martial arts.
As a school we are slightly sports mad, to put it mildly. As a Head Teacher I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to employ many exceptional sports coaches and teachers highly skilled and enthusiastic in sports. For further information please look at our sports newsletters.
We hold annual events such as: our Spring Concert, Infant Music Days, Christmas Concerts, Carol Services, Harvest Services, M&M Theatre Visit (annual), Play in a Day Theatre Visit.
We have music teachers on site who provide lessons in: Flute, Clarinet, Piano, Guitar, Drums and a wide range of Brass instruments. The PTFA pay each year for our Year 3 pupils to have whole class Brass lessons as an addition to their music curriculum.
We have several choirs who meet regularly and perform at our concerts and PTFA Christmas and Summer Fairs as well as perform each Christmas at a local home for the elderly.
Every other year we hold an Arts Enrichment week and have visiting artists and musicians who provide workshops for our pupils. We develop every child's skills in art as well provide specific opportunities for pupils who excel in these areas. We regularly take part in the Od Arts Festival which broadens our pupil's understanding of art and allows them to take part in alternative arts workshops.
We also often take part in additional arts events which pop up throughout the year and have internal art projects led by our highly skilled staff. We have a growing selection of permanent artwork on display in our corridors.
Please look at our child's page for photos of events and recordings of our Virtual Spring Concert which took place this year.
We take part in regular projects led by Leonardo's Helicopters Ltd as part of encouraging future engineers. Leonardo's graduate apprentices have also worked in school with our pupils on STEM workshops.
After School Clubs
We normally offer many after school activities led by our school staff and external providers. Most of these are from Y2 upwards but we do offer lunchtime activities for our Reception children and in the summer we offer an after school club. The activities vary and more information can be found under our after school club section.

Please note - there will be more events and activities we do in addition to those mentioned above.
