2021 REMOTE LEARNING & COVID Information

Remote Learning Lead: Mrs Hesketh-Williams

Remote Learning & Key Worker Information

Over the last two terms the school has invested heavily in developing staff and pupils skills using MS Teams and live lessons, which has put us in a strong position in regards to our remote learning offer.

We appreciate that every family has its own special circumstances in regards to how they can support their children with remote education. Therefore although we are providing work online, we will provide paper packs on request should families have difficulty accessing devices. Please email or phone the school office if you feel you may need a paper pack.

We will add extra activities and events as we progress through the term such as assemblies, competitions, podcasts and online parent meetings. We are conscious that this is a challenging time for everyone and do not wish to bombard you with activities in the first two weeks.

The teachers and teaching assistants will also be providing support check ins with the children via MS Teams. Should staff not hear from you or your child, we will contact via phone to check if you need any support. The office will be manned during lockdown so please do contact us if you have any queries.

Please note that our teachers have an exceptionally high workload, as they are teaching in school and providing regular remote learning feedback and support to those at home. Therefore teachers will not normally provide feedback or pick up emails after 3.30pm, as they will be marking work, planning or supporting their own children and families.

Please also be aware that government guidelines in regards to key worker and remote learning provision may change which may affect our current offer.

Further Information about home learning

There is a timetable below regarding what you should expect from the school in regards to lessons your child can access and work they must complete. Please look in the class pages section under 'Online Home Learning' for more information about what is on offer.

Sadly we do not currently have the capacity to support with laptops at home due to the high numbers in school also using them. We received one laptop from the government scheme and our older laptops are very slow. I will keep you informed should the situation change as we look to increase the number of laptops in school.

Getting In Touch

Please make sure you have the school app downloaded to your device as we will be using this and emails as our main source of communication. There will also be some communication on classlist by the infant teachers and to speak to any of the junior teacher this can be done through TEAMS, email or a phone call to the office. The school office is manned during this time should you have any queries.

If you are unsure your child shows COVID 19 symptoms, please refer to 'NHS 111 online' for further information.

If you wish to know what to do if your child does show symptoms, please refer to the school documents and the flow chart for parents.
